Explorers lend a hand (or two) with car parking at Tynwald Day

Posted on July 11th, 2018 by admin

Explorers, leaders and adult helpers did their bit to ensure the smooth running of this years Tynwald day celebration.

The ‘Wolf Packs’ patch was the traders car park and by the end of the morning they had perfected numerous ways of directing the public to a parking spot. The one using an Explorer as a ‘sign board’ increased visibility but did nothing for the arm muscles!

‘Wolf Pack’ Southern Explorers at Tynwald Day Ceremony

Posted on July 9th, 2015 by admin

A wet and windy Tynwald Day found the ‘Wolf Pack’ working behind the scenes crewing the traders car park.

During the course of the morning the Explorers devised ‘synchronised traffic direction’ which meant everyone spread out in a long line and all pointing the way at the same time. It was even more impressive when they managed to do a ‘rolling point’ with the Explorer pointing the way just before the vehicle got to them. (it helped to keep the insanity at bay!)

The photograph shows Mark, Willa, Maddie, Roger, Ben, Laurence, Henry (Who became a temporary traffic Island!) Mathew, Isla and Lile just before going for a hot drink and a cake at the WI stall.

Help Promote Manx Scouting at Tynwald Day

Posted on July 1st, 2015 by admin

Tynwald Day is rapidly approaching and The Scout Association will have a stand to promote Manx Scouting.  It would be great if as many leaders and older Scouts could help run the stand and spread the word about how great Scouting is and how fantastic it is to be a leader.

If anyone is prepared to help please contact Julie Leece at and let her know and the times that you are available.

Tynwald Day Car Parking

Posted on April 23rd, 2015 by admin

The Clerk of Tynwald has again asked the scouts if we can look after the car parking for Tynwald Day on Monday 6th July.

Scout Active Support and Ellan Vannin Scout Network will again lead this process but we need plenty of volunteer help.  Adults from any Scouting role and Explorer Scouts are welcome (aged 14+ please).

In return for an early start (we meet at approx. 7.30 am), and lots of arm waving, you will be rewarded with a free lunch and a donation to the Scout Section of your choice.  You should be all done and fed by 2.00 pm latest (hopefully earlier).

To volunteer please Colin Brew via email (, phone/text (469464)  or contact him on Facebook.
