Assistance required by the TT/MGP Association

Posted on July 11th, 2018 by admin

The IOM TT/MGP Association has again asked for our assistance to fill the information packs given to everyone marshalling at this years Manx Grand Prix.

This is open to Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network, leaders, helpers and parents.

The only uniform required is your necker.

Meet at the rear of the TT Grandstand for 10am Sunday, 12th. August.

We are usually finished by lunchtime. Obviously the more hands the faster the job gets done! Also, there is usually a ‘goodies bag’ for participants.

The TT/MGP association really appreciate the help of the Scouts as we do in 2 to 3 hours what used to take them a week!

MGP Marshal Bags Prepared by Manx Scouts

Posted on August 13th, 2017 by admin

On Sunday Scouts, Explorer Scouts, members of Scout Network, Scout Active Support, Leaders and Parents prepared the info bags for the MGP marshals. Over 20  people, representing Manx Scouting from across the Island, spent a couple of hours stuffing info, hats and lanyards into bags to be distributed to the marshals.

Special thanks to all from Roger Birtles. “It’s the best turnout in the 5 years we’ve been doing this.”

Many hands definitely made short work of the around 1,000 bags.

Maverick Explorer Unit from Woking have a great time

Posted on September 8th, 2015 by admin

The Maverick Explorer Unit from Woking visited the island for their annual camp, camping at Mullin ny Carty.

One of the highlights of their visit was The Three Legs Challenge. In an email to Guy from the AESL of the unit Kevin wrote, “It was tough on the Scouts completing the Three Legs Challenge in four days, but by the time we were home whatever pain they had experienced was long gone from their minds and the achievement, the stunning scenery and assisting with the scoreboard was the primary things mentioned to their parents when being picked up.”

DSC_0014While here a number of the Explorer Scouts worked at the MGP Scoreboard with the local Scouts during the Saturday race. Their visit to the scoreboard after the race ended with the investiture of Thomas Newling-Ward.

Kevin would like to thank all of you and the amazing support we received from the Manx Scouts. “It surpassed my expectations significantly.”

The Mavericks already intend on coming back again in 2018.
