Hill Skills Day

Beavers on the Heritage Trail

There will be a skills day on Saturday 23rd January meeting at Mullin ny Carty for a briefing and some indoor work then to St Marks and up South Barrule meeting at 10.00 am finishing at 4.00 pm.

A second hill skills day will be on Saturday 12th March. For those willing to be assessed and pass will be awarded the Bronze level National Navigation Award but all will be awarded their T1 Permit. Details of this day will follow but timing is the same.

A comprehensive kit list will follow but with Christmas coming the following may give you some ideas!

  • Hiking boots
  • Full waterproofs
  • warm hat and gloves
  • Silva type 24 plate compass or similar but with magnifying glass, degrees please NOT mils
  • Flask
  • Day pack with waterproof liners
  • Whistle
  • Emergency blanket

Let either Jay or I know if you wish to attend by email.

Remember that Snaefell, North Barrule and other Northern hills are out of bounds without the T1 permit if you are participating in a Scout activity.
